Entertaining action and too-cool characters highlight Three Against the World, a delightful period action-comedy from famed action director Yuen Cheung Yan. Andy Lau stars as Charlie Chan, who's assigned to safeguard a holy artifact on display at the local museum. However, angling for the prize are two famous scoundrels: Ma (Norman Tsui), a renowned sharpshooter, and Cho Fei Fan (Teddy Robin Kwan), a gentleman thief with unlikely kung-fu prowess. Separately, the two would-be thieves promise to steal the artifact out from under Charlie Chan's nose, but together the three form a bond of mutual respect and acknowledged competition. There might be money and reputations on the line, but to these three honorable men nothing is more important than their private game with one another - and the bragging rights that go to the winner! Director Yuen Cheung Yan (aided by action director Yuen Wah) loads the film with finely-choreographed action and oodles of nifty Hong Kong Cinema style. Co-starring sexy Rosamund Kwan and singer Sandy Lam, Three Against the World is a light, entertaining escapade that's fun Hong Kong filmmaking at it's best!
